What is a Vegan Protein Smoothie?

Everyone knows what a smoothie is, a blended drink made with fruit, milk and/or juice. It's often frosty, with a base of ice or frozen bananas. Smoothies can be healthy but can be high in carbs and sugar, without protein or fat to balance it out.

A protein smoothie adds nut butters, protein powders, nuts and/or seeds to the mix. Obviously a vegan protein smoothie is made with a vegan protein powder rather than a milk or whey based one.

My favorite Vegan Protein is by Ora Organic. Their vanilla protein powder is the best I have ever tasted. It has 23G of protein, 0 grams sugar and 3 grams of carb! There is no gross stevia aftertaste or gritty texture.

Why you'll love this Cinnamon Almond Vegan Protein Smoothie

    • Super creamy and delicious, tastes like a treat
    • Short ingredient list
    • Full of vegan protein and heart healthy fats
    • Balanced flavors and macros
    • Warm flavors like cinnamon mimic dessert
    • Some say cinnamon has extra fat burning properties
    • Easy and really quick to make
    • Almond butter makes this extra satisfying and filling
    • Easy handheld breakfast

    Sweet tooth tip:

If you are a sweet tooth, add a date to this smoothie recipe. For me this is sweet enough but some folks love their sugar! A medjool date will satisfy that craving while still being good for you.

Cinnamon Almond Vegan Protein Smoothie Ingredients

One of the things I love about a vegan protein smoothie is how simple they are to put together. This one only has 5 ingredients!

    • Frozen banana: Frozen bananas gives this smoothie a frosty and creamy texture.
    • Almond Butter: Makes this extra satisfying
    • Unsweetened Almond Milk: Every smoothie needs juice or milk for a liquid base.
    • Cinnamon- Ground cinnamon gives this smoothie it's unmistakable flavor
    • Ice: For extra frostiness
    • Protein Powder- I use my favorite vegan protein powder from Ora Organic

Bonus tip:  Be sure to add ingredients in the correct order to avoid clumps and keep the blender blades moving, there is nothing worse than powdery lumps in a smoothie!

Tips for Making the Best Vegan Protein Smoothie

    • Experiment with different milks, choose the one that delivers the flavors and macros you like.
    • Try adding extra fruits. Apples would go really well with these flavors.
    • Add other supplements like collagen boosting powder, creatine or probiotics.

    FAQs

I am allergic to nuts, can I sub something else?

Well, you can certainly substitute soy milk for the almond milk and sunbutter for the almond butter. It won't taste the same but it will be delicious.

What kind of vegan protein do you use?

I love the vegan vanilla Organic Protein Powder from Ora. You can enjoy 30% off if you use my link to purchase your own.
